Dreams: A Source of Guidance
When I was four years old, I began to take a keen interest in dreams. I always looked forward to bedtime—dreamtime, when I would see a movie within my mind. I never knew exactly what these nightly visions meant but they were fun to watch and I would be pleasantly surprise to see myself acting on this panorama movie screen. In most of my dreams, these nighttime adventures were pleasant. Some a little scary and a few were "jolt out of bed, run to mommy" nightmarish dreams.
As I grew older, dreams continued to hold my attention with a new intensity. I wanted to know, what dreams really were. How and who created these dreams that seemed to be written especially for me? Why do I dream, and for what purpose do dreams serve me, the dreamer? Where do I go when I dream, if indeed I go anywhere? What do my dreams mean? Most important for me was to learn how to understand this foreign language of my dreams.
Over the years, I gathered up all the information I could on dreams from various sources, but nothing could compare to what I learned about dreams when I began studying the teachings of Eckankar. I had my very own private dream teacher the Mahanta the spiritual part of the Living ECK Master of Eckankar. The Heavenly Connection
As I looked into those eyes, I felt a tug at my heart. Along with it came a feeling she was indeed one special puppy. My oldest son named her Tammy. He gave no reason other that “it just came to me.” I felt the heavenly connection when I heard the name. A name she responded to without hesitation. Ah! I thought this is the name Soul, chose before it incarnated, a name she could identify with. Tammy was a welcomed new member of our family For fourteen years, we enjoyed the company of this wonderful pet. All three children left the nest and were off building nesting places of their own. Therefore, it was now only my husband and I now enjoying the company of our companion, Tammy. When she died, I cried. It was like losing a member of the family—a very dear loved one. She was a very precious Soul, and this furry member of our family, was like another child to us.
I missed her greeting when I would come home from work and how she always was sitting by my feet no matter where I sat as well as her watchful eyes as she followed me about. Most of all her I missed her licking my hand, ever so gently, when she knew I needed comfort. One day I came across some pictures of Tammy. Suddenly I longed to see her once more, to pet her, and scratch her behind the ears. This was something she like me to do, that made her whimper a delightful sound of being pleased and grateful. I would often sense her presence, and at times, I could even smell her and hear her panting. My eyes hungered for a glimpse of Tammy. The memories brought forth from these old pictures gave me a sense of pleasure as I took a trip down memory lane. The dream, a few brief moments of a loving encounter has become a happy memory of a heavenly visit that will forever spark a glow of love when it comes to mind. As I write this story, I feel closeness, a warm embrace of love from Tammy. Wait! What is that I feel? I look down at my feet to see what caused the sensation on my ankle. Nothing was there, that the naked eye could see. Was it Tammy coming to say hello? Or was this strange sensation a figment of my imagination? I chose to believe Tammy and I have a heavenly connection that continues thirty years later. I am grateful that God creates and sends me dreams to soothe and comfort, when I am awake or asleep. My search began. Years of exploring various spiritual teachings brought some satisfactory experiences but still not exactly, what I had hoped to discover. One night I had a dream in which I was repeatedly singing "Take me to the Far Country let my Soul unfold." As I wrote the dream in my journal I thought, "The Far Country! This is the place, a location where Soul (higher self) can open up to a greater expansion of spiritual awareness and communicate to the little self (Betty) many important truths. Getting there again was not that easy, no matter what I tried, my attempts to transport me to the Far Country were not successful at first. A few months after I became a member of Eckankar, I was ecstatic when I found reference to the Far Country as being the heavenly worlds of God. I learned how to do the Spiritual Exercise of ECK as a prelude to contemplation and before falling asleep. I learned how dreams are valuable learning tools with the skill to understand them. I learned to sing, HU a secret name of God. Singing HU is on the outgoing breath and sounds like HUuuuuuuuuu. This love song to God opens the heart, expands awareness and transports me via Soul Travel into the vast heavenly worlds of God. I am now a frequent visitor of the Far Country where I have spiritual freedom and the wisdom of ECK (Holy Spirit) is in accordance with my state of consciousness. As Soul unfolds to higher spiritual truths, life experiences are more often clearly understandable resulting in making better choices, as well as the ability to love unconditionally which now comes more easily. I followed the normal procedure of contacting my DSL (digital The next day, a telephone technician inspected the outside wires, the inside wires, the modem and my computer—all were working fine. He attempted to get me online for four futile hours. He was positive there was a crew checking all the phone lines in the area and the problem could be found and my computer would correct itself. Day 4: the DSL experienced technicians spent another four hours trying to get me online with no success. He left assuring me he was going to turn the problem over to the expert troubleshooter crew for finding problems on telephone lines. I was a bit perturbed, to say the least. I asked the Mahanta (Divine Spirit) for help with this technical problem when I became aware that it was indeed a waking dream. When I put forth the request to the Mahanta, the letters DSL became for me an actual anagram for Disconnected Sound and Light. I began to ponder the reason I was experiencing this. More so, I was concerned about my “disconnection” with the Inner Master. My heart was heavy as images of days prior to my experiencing this DSL problem passed through my mind. It was clear that I had knowingly and unknowingly broken a few spiritual laws. This was quite upsetting to me. I recognized this episode and I surrendered my anger about the problem, as well as my reliance and attachment of the Internet, to the Mahanta, my spiritual guide. It was at that moment I knew that the glitch would be found and repaired and I would be able to get back online. Being detached gave me a great sense of relief, as well as gratitude for the insight I had received. Day 5: I saw two phone trucks on my street, but did not try to get online. Day 6: I turned on the computer with a balanced attitude, one of acceptance, whether I was able to get online or not. It really did not matter. I had completely surrendered my emotional need to be able to surf the Web. My computer worked, I was connected. DSL now equaled—Direct Spiritual Linkup. I was happy to have the problem solved, and euphoric about having a wonderful spiritual-learning experience. To see his picture and read more about him visit : go to Experience God in Your Dreams I learned that I was experiencing God in my dream when I was young, but I had no way of knowing this was Light and Sound are twin aspects of God. This divine power gives life to all things as it flows out of the universal body of God to sustain all worlds. This essence from God is DIvine Spirit, our divine inner connection. Divine Spirit can be seen as Light and heard as Sound flowing throughout the God Worlds. Sound causes movement of atoms in space, and Light causes the reflection of these atoms. Soul is an atom in the body of God. Soul is made of this divine life force that God placed within the physical form to give it existence. Soul inhabits this form but is free to travel the inner worlds of God. The human consciousness becomes aware of these inner travels to some degree and recognizes a contact made with God. Your dreams are an opportunity to make this inner connection with the Light and Sound. Soul can take nightly journeys into the inner worlds and bring forth treasures of understanding that can help in your daily life. Your dreams are a source of spiritual truth and a vital means of understanding self. Dreams can validate your experiences with God. Perhaps you have already made this divine contact but were unable to recognize God's presence because of a preconceived idea of what God is. The Light and Sound of God in the dream state are with either color and sound, or with both. As IT flows from the highest to the lowest plane (God Worlds) and back again IT changes in sound and color. IT is the brightest Light and sweetest Sound in the higher planes. Color comes in a form of fine vibratory waves or rays of light. They are different pastel colors and shades, the most common being green, pink, orange, blue, violet, yellow and white. The purest appears to be whitest. Almost blinding flashes of Light are the highest form of God making ITSELF known to us. Sound comes in audible waves of the Divine Being expressing ITSELF in various sounds. The most common sounds are thunder, roar of the sea, tinkling of bells, running water, buzzing bees, twittering birds, single note of a flute, wind, violins, music of woodwinds and the sound HU. Hearing the sound of Huuuuu is the highest form of the sound of God being in our dreams. Now that you understand, God comes in many forms of Light and Sound, can you recall a dream experiences that contained colors or sound as described here? Perhaps you had a dream with a variety of colors changing shapes similar to looking into a kaleidoscope. On the other hand, you heard an orchestra playing beautiful music that filled you with love. She came to our house, six weeks old. The puppy I came to accept as a family member was a mix-breed, of terrier and beagle. Her fur was mostly coal black with snow-white patches and flecks of brown here and there, like spatters of paint. It was the eyes, the dark black eye that shone with love and intense devotion, that opened the love in my heart.
Then, to my delight, Divine Spirit arranged a dream where two old friends could meet, greet and share a few moments together. In the dream, Tammy did not appear to be the older dog that passed away, but a frisky one-year-old dog. She was running around in the front yard as I approached her. When she saw me, she came running, jumping up on my legs. I sat down in the grass where we frolicked for a few delightful minutes. It was so real —a vivid experience that brought me great joy.
Visiting the Far Country
The hustle and bustle of life seemed at times to bring me to the point of sheer frustration. My mind and emotions would continually go off in all directions with so much to do and so little time to get it done. I longed for the ability to withdraw my attention from the outer world and focus on the inner stillness of a private sanctuary within the realms of my consciousness. I longed for that secret tranquil place where time is unimportant, where making a list of things to do is nonexistent, where the mind is at rest and the emotions are held in check. How do I reach this place?

Day 3: I received a phone call telling me the trouble on the line had been located and corrected, but after checking, I discovered the problem still existed. A few frustrating phone calls later, and with no help in sight, I was now wallowing in anger; I expressed it in my tone of voice. Finally, an online technician promised to send out another phone technician, one who was more familiar with DSL service and computers.
